Dopo la rivoluzione contro la monarchia, il Nepal ha pensato di sostituire il vecchio inno con una nuova versione indicendo un concorso pubblico. Con le parole di Pradeep Kumar Rai e musica di Amber Gurung il nuovo inno nazionale è ufficiale dal 3 agosto 2007.
